Dental Bonding

What is Dental Bonding?

Bonding is a cosmetic procedure that involves placing a composite resin material over damaged or compromised areas at the front of your smile. You might choose to have bonding done if you have chips, cracks, or spaces between front teeth. Other patients choose this cosmetic option when they’re looking for a quick and easy way to cover deep stains and discoloration. Bonding can easily last for about 10 years before replacement is recommended.

Why is Dental Bonding needed?

Bonding can be applied to healthy adult teeth. It can cover a range of imperfections that may cause you to feel self-conscious about your appearance. Some of the things that bonding can cover include:

  • Spaces and gaps
  • Chips, cracks, or small breaks
  • Discoloration or stains
  • Uneven-looking teeth

Why Is Dental Bonding Needed

Who is a good candidate for Dental Bonding?

In order for bonding to be effective, the teeth need to be otherwise healthy enough to undergo this cosmetic treatment. If there is decay or other issues with the teeth, we may recommend various treatment options to be done prior to the bonding. Bonding is best suited for adult patients. We carefully match the color of the composite resin to ensure it blends in well with the rest of your smile.

What can you expect with Dental Bonding?

We begin the procedure by buffing the tooth to make room for the new bonding. A bonding gel is applied to the teeth and washed away. The composite resin is then placed over the tooth and smoothed into place. Once the material has been carefully detailed, we will cure it into place with a special light. This light hardens the bonding material to prevent it from falling away or shifting out of place. Once the procedure is finished, your new bonding will last for about a decade before it may need to be replaced. Bonding is a great way to transform your smile without the need for anesthetic or more invasive procedures.

If you’re ready to change your smile with bonding, call our office today and we will be happy to get you in for an appointment.
